An appeal for donations was launched last week and has been answered by local communities with a constant stream of clothing and equipment left at local schools.

All donations were taken to Farr where they were sorted by pupil volunteers and loaded on to a van.

A parent volunteered to drive the van to Aberdeen for collection and transportation to the Polish border.

Head teacher Katherine Wood said: “We have had such support and help in organising this and would like to thank everybody who has contributed. It has been a very moving experience and is a clear message of our solidarity with the people of Ukraine.”
