NO fresh cases of Covid-19 have been recorded in the NHS Highland area in the past day.

The region's cumulative number of positive tests since the start of the pandemic remained unchanged on 388 when the latest daily figures were published at 2pm.

Across Scotland there were 47 new positive tests for Covid-19 in the past 24 hours – and again NHS Grampian was the location of more than half of them, as Aberdeen continues its battle against its recent hotspot of infection.

Meanwhile, the number of people being treated in the nation's hospitals for the coronavirus fell slightly in the past day – down four to 265. Three of the 265 were in intensive care last night. And there were no new deaths reported among those who have tested positive for the virus.

Outside NHS Highland, there were no new cases of infection confirmed in Orkney, Shetland or Eileanan Siar.

NHS Tayside, meanwhile, reported four new cases, to see its cumulative total rise to 1815.

And NHS Grampian added 24 confirmed cases – increasing its overall number of infections since the start of the outbreak to 1733.
