THERE were no positive tests for Covid-19 in the NHS Highland area in the past 24 hours – but neighbouring NHS Grampian registered another 38 in the same period following Aberdeen's recent break-out.

The hot spot in the Granite City means that Grampian has seen 100 new cases recorded in just the past four days, to take that region's cumulative Covid-19 total to 1570.

NHS Highland however, remained unchanged on 385 when the latest daily update went live at 2pm.

Elsewhere in the north of Scotland, the health boards for Eileanan Siar, Orkney and Shetland all recorded no fresh cases of the virus. NHS Tayside, meanwhile, saw its total climb by four to 1801.

Across Scotland as a whole there were 66 new cases reported in the past 24 hours – or 1.2 per cent of all those people newly-tested during that period.

The numbers of people in hospital and those receiving intensive care treatment also rose slightly – up three to 270, and up one to four respectively.

But there was better news elsewhere, with Scotland reporting no fresh fatalities overnight among those with confirmed Covid-19 - making it three weeks without any new deaths in the country.
