New NC500 hotel company lodges planning application for more bedrooms at one of its recently acquired four properties

The new owners of the Newton Lodge at Kylesku are applying for planning permission to convert a garage and alter staff areas in order to provide more guest bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms.

It was recently announced that the seven-bedroom property had been bought over by new company Highland Coast Hotels which has also acquired the Kylesku Hotel, the Royal Marine Hotel, Brora, and the Royal Golf Hotel, Dornoch.

All the hotels are sited along the NC500 tourism route.

From the plans lodged with the Highland Council, it appears that another seven bedrooms are intended across two floors at the Newton Lodge, which overlooks Glen Coul.

At the time of the acquisition Roddy Watt, chief executive of Highland Coast Hotels said that the company hoped to launch a substantial investment and modernisation programme to fill a gap in the market for high-quality accommodation.

However, he added that all the hotels would retain their respective names and identities.
