HoST covers the area from Altnaharra to the north to Ardgay in the south and Ledmore Junction and Strath Fleet in the east and west.

The map and guide were produced thanks to funding from Foundation Scotland and E.ON Rosehall Community Fund.

Routes round central Sutherland are shown on the map along with places of interest and local facilities such as shops, fuel stations, accommodation, eateries and public toilest.

The guide offers destinations to visit in the large settlements n the area

HoST secretary Tracey Smith said: “Many visitors just follow the NC500 tourism route and don’t realise there is a lot more to see and do in the area.

"We wanted to show that you can still get away from it all, enjoy quieter roads and experience the real Highlands."

The maps and guides are currently being distributed to local tourism and hospitality businesses as well as tourist information offices across Scotland.
