New community transport scheme in Far North named 'Farr Goes' as call goes out for people to join steering group and volunteer as drivers

A new community transport scheme on the north coast is being called ‘Farr Goes’, it has been announced.

The transport scheme is being run by Farr North Community Development Trust and has been made possible by the gift of a new electric car from newly formed not-for-profit company Sutherland Resilience Initiative.

The Trust is now appealing for people to join the Farr Goes steering group and volunteer as drivers.

A Trust spokesperson said: “At this crucial time as we are trying to set things up, even a few hours (of your time) will help us get moving.”

Anyone interested is invited to attend a meeting at the Naver Centre, Bettyhill, on Wednesday, September 25, at 7pm.

The Trust is also looking for volunteer drivers and is asking potential users of the service to get in touch by emailing: manager@farrnorth.onmicrosoft.com.

“To plan the service we need to know what service you want,” said the spokesperson.
