NC500 tops list of popular UK road trips

Tourism route NC500 is set to be the most popular scenic road to travel on this summer, according to research by a car servicing firm.

Collect Service Go analysed over 500,000 Instagram hashtag posts to create a list of the top 20 most popular scenic driving routes in the UK.

A spokesman for the firm said: “According to our results, the North Coast 500 route is the most popular scenic road to travel on this summer with more than 113,000 posts on the Instagram platform.

“Google search data also reveals a 450 per cent increase in searches for ‘North Coast 500 route planner’ over the last year, proving that this road really is the place to drive this staycation.”

Collect Service Go’s study found that searches for UK road trips have gone up by 81 per cent since April 2020, with 53 per cent of British residents opting for a UK road-trip holiday this year.

Additional data also explains that road trippers are planning to spend more than 10 hours on UK motorways this summer with 78 per cent of British holidaymakers intending to travel by motor vehicle to their holiday destination.
