MP urges people to reflect on holocaust

Caithness, Sutherland and Easter Ross MP Jamie Stone has urged people to reflect on one of "the darkest times of our history" ahead of a sombre day of remembrance.

He made his remarks ahead of Holocaust Memorial Day on January 27 after signing the Holocaust Educational Trust’s Book of Commitment.

This pledges his commitment to Holocaust Memorial Day and honouring those who were killed as well as paying tribute to survivors who work to educate young people today.

This year marks 75 years since the liberation of the concentration camps of Europe and the end of the Second World War.

Mr Stone said: “Holocaust Memorial Day is an important opportunity for people across Europe to reflect on the darkest times of our history. As the Holocaust moves from living history to history, it becomes even more important that we take the time to remember the six million Jewish victims and also pay tribute to the survivors.”
