Far North MP Jamie Stone has praised local Citizens Advice advisors for providing essential support to people across the Highlands during the pandemic.

Citizens Advice has worked with thousands of residents across Caithness, Sutherland and Easter Ross in the past year, as well as thousands more across the country, to ensure free, accessible advice for all.

Mr Stone said: “The continuing work of Citizens Advice staff and volunteers during the pandemic has provided a lifeline to so many. Their service to the communities across the Highlands has been exemplary and shows the best of us during these difficult times.”

Recently released figures show that, across the constituency, Citizens Advice helped 3403 people claim £6.9 million in entitlements during 2020-21. Over 50 per cent of the advice given to constituents related to benefits.

The bureaux are free of charge and there are six offices across Caithness, Sutherland and Easter Ross, as well as online and phone support on 0800 028 1456.
