Sutherland County Committee has been allocated an extra £12,591 towards upgrading play parks in the county.
The funding comes from the Scottish Government's play area renewal programme and is being disbursed by Highland Council.
In total the authority received £234,000 with £219,000 being passed on to area committees. The lion's share (£66,167) went to the Inverness area.
A spokesman said: "Councillors have agreed on the allocation of this £219,000 capital play park funds by considering play park condition, the number of young people and a factor for rurality."
The remaining £15,000 from the overall total has been earmarked to develop a strategy for play parks across the region with the aim of ensuring they are safe and environmentally and financially sustainable.
Councillor Allan Henderson, chairman of the Communities and Place Committee, said: “Supporting families in the recovery from the pandemic is vital to the wellbeing of our communities and I am very pleased to see the development of a strategy and investment in play parks that will assist with the recovery."
