The MoD have announced today they will be conducting an exercise involving helicopters and ground troops between March 11-30.

Activity in Sutherland can be expected at Kylesku/Glendhu Forest area; the Ben More Forest area; Loch Shin area; and the Cape Wrath/Durness/Eriboll/Kinlochbervie area.

Out of hours flying has been authorised and noise disturbance may be experienced in some locations. The ground element of the exercise will deploy in conjunction with helicopter operations.

Personnel will carry weapons and blank ammunition. Tactical activity will be conducted as part of the localised ground deployment at locations where permission has been granted to do so.

The MoD says they wish to provide notice of military-related activity, particularly helicopter low flying and the presence of troops. All personnel involved with the exercise will be briefed on the requirement to avoid disturbance to livestock and damage to property together with the procedures for reporting incidents and complaints.
