Pupils at Melvich Primary School have been thinking of others less privileged than themselves in the run-up to Christmas.

The school has worked hard to support Children in Need and the Blythswood Shoe Box Appeal.

A dress down day was organised by the pupil council in aid of Children in Need along with fun activities for the whole school, including the early learning centre.

Teacher Amanda Mackay said: “The activities went down a treat with all the children, and an amazing £160 was raised by pupils and staff for Pudsey’s projects.”

The school and community it serves also donated 72 shoeboxes to the annual Blythswood appeal for distribution throughout Eastern Europe.

Pupil Council member Calum Farquhar (P5), said: “We were delighted to have gathered so many shoeboxes and hope these will help to make people happy at Christmas.”
