Man charged over Royal Dornoch whin fires

Police Scotland has confirmed that a man has been arrested and charged in connection with wilful fire-raising at Royal Dornoch golf course.
Fires broke out in whin bushes at four greens on the championship course in the early hours of Sunday.
It is the second such incident in the space of two months.
Fire units from Dornoch and Tain were called out to the course and firefighters spent three hours bringing the whin fires under control.
A Police Scotland spokesman said: "Officers in Dornoch can confirm that a 21-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with a wilful fire-raising at the Royal Dornoch golf course.
“The incident happened around 3.30am on Sunday, May 17. A report has been submitted to the procurator fiscal.”
Royal Dornoch posted on social media: "Following great assistance from members of the public, police were able to trace and apprehended a male suspect. Our grateful thanks to all who helped police with the investigation and to the many officers involved, for the swift resolution to this matter."
