A disorientated man being lashed by Storm Brendan was at the centre of a rescue in the north west Highlands today.

The man, believed to be in his 30s, was found in a disorientated state on the moor at Achiltibuie.

A postman, who is a member of the local coastguard rescue team, spotted him in obvious difficulties around 10.10am.

A spokesman for Stornoway Coastguard, which co-ordinated the rescue, said the man was showing signs of hypothermia.

Coastguards helped keep the man warm until he was taken into the care of an ambulance crew. His condition is unknown.
