A BOY has been treated for a leg injury and a man for minor injuries after a fall on steep ground near an Easter Ross landmark.

The incident on Fyrish Hill near Alness triggered a call-out for the Dundonnell Mountain Rescue Ream.

The mountain rescue team said it had been alerted at around 6pm on Sunday evening by Police Scotland to respond to the incident.

A spokesman said it had responded to a report that a man and boy had been injured after falling on steep ground.

Some 23 team members attended the incident along with local HM Coastguard Search and Rescue volunteers and officers from Police Scotland.

The spokesman said: "After being located by team members, a boy with a leg injury was evacuated to hospital by HM Coastguard helicopter and a man with minor injuries was evacuated by road."

Team leader Iain Nesbitt said: "We would like to offer our best wishes to the young lad who was injured."
