The measures for the Munlochy junction on the Black Isle follow a public consultation considering various improvements on the road between North Kessock and Tore.

Consultant WSP has published a list of short, medium and long-term options such as amended signs and safety cameras and expects to publish a preliminary appraisal by the end of next month.

Transport Scotland has now said street lights will be installed at the junction as it also reviews active travel facilities around Tore roundabout and the speed limit on the roundabout and approaches.

Local MSP Kate Forbes said: “I do recognise that this will not impact near misses during the day – but I hope there will be other improvements for the junction announced soon, even if they take slightly longer to implement.”
