Life-size inflatable whale to be star attraction at Lochinver event
THERE will be a special attraction at a whale and dolphin event organised by Assynt Field Club in Lochinver later this month.
Whale and Dolphin Conservation’s life-size, inflatable humpback whale, known as ‘Hope’, will be on display at Lochinver Hall on Wednesday, July 31.
Visitors will be able to enter the 13m long and 8m wide inflatable to learn about the internal anatomy of humpback whales.
Ten-minute ‘whale tours’ will take place from 1.30pm-2.30pm and from 3.15pm-4pm. There will also be a short talk on how to spot the different whale and dolphin species from the coastline from 2.30pm-3.15pm.
Other whale-related activities will take place including board games, a quiz and touch table.
And at 6pm members of the public are invited to join the field club at Stoer Head Lighthouse to learn about how best to spot whales and dolphins.
