Lairg man had cocaine and heroin 'in his pockets'

A SUTHERLAND man who is in poor physical health after a series of accidents took drugs to alleviate his pain.

But 45-year-old Ivan Mackay of Altass, Lairg, got arrested when he was found by police in a house in the Highland capital known for drug dealing.

Inverness Sheriff Court was told that Mackay was discovered in the property at Mackay Road on December 10, 2019.

Officer searched his person and found one gram of cocaine and 1.6 grams of heroin in his pockets.

Appearing at court today, Mackay admitted two charges of illegal possession of the banned drugs.

Defence solicitor Graham Mann told Sheriff Eilidh Macdonald that his client "has been taking drugs as a form of pain management as a result of a number of accidents he has been involved in."

Mackay was fined £800.
