Families in Sutherland are being invited to take part in a new garden project being launched by Lairg Learning Centre.

It is open to those who live in the county and have children up to the age of 18 in the household. However spaces are limited so families should make their interest know quickly.

Those taking part in My Rainbow Garden will be sent a free box of vegetable plants.
Those taking part in My Rainbow Garden will be sent a free box of vegetable plants.

The project is called My Rainbow Garden and those who sign up will be sent a box with vegetables plants to be planted directly outside.

A spokeswoman for the centre said: “There will be a mix of radish, peas, onion, broad beans, broccoli, lettuce, leeks, chard, carrot and more.”

People taking part will be asked to share their experience by sending their stories, photographs and pictures to Lairg Learning Centre.

Representatives from the centre will be in touch to share ideas about seasonal growing, composting, when to harvest, recipe ideas and minimising food waste.

The vegetable box is free but spaces are limited and they will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.

This is part of Lairg Learning Centre’s Season of Change project, which is funded by Scottish Government’s Climate challenge Fund.
