Lairg and District Learning Centre (LDLC) is holding a virtual event for parents and carers to teach their children about the impacts of climate change.

Entitled How to Equip Children for an Uncertain Future, the event will give advice and information on how to discuss climate change with children in a simple, fun and empowering way.

A global study recently conducted by the BBC revealed that as many as 60 per cent of young people feel very or extremely worried about climate change.

It was found that the complexity of the issue along with confusing scientific terms and emerging real world consequences added to young people’s anxieties.

However, there are useful ways that children can learn about climate change, such as by producing artwork.

How to Equip Children for an Uncertain Future takes place online on Thursday, January 27.

The event is part of the Seasons of Change project, funded by Scottish Government’s Climate Challenge Fund.

The project works with people in the community to raise awareness of climate change though offering workshops and classes, online and face to face, as well as working with local schools.

The workshop will be led by Anya Dyke Hart from Big Dreams Little Footprints and takes place from 7pm on January 27 via Zoom.
