World’s ‘strongest ever brothers’ brave chilly Loch Insh and love it

Big Dippers don’t come much bigger than the Stoltman Brothers and they made quite a splash this wee in Badenoch’s Loch Insh!

Courtesy of ‘Brass Monkey’ (no comment) the Albatross and the Highland Oak were just in the mood for a bracing swim at Kincraig and were met by a crowd of about 40, some of whom were keen to join them in the icy embrace of the Spey waters.

One was Kirk Watson, who freely admitted: “I look tiny compared to these giants Tom and Luke!

“Tom is three times strongest man in the world winner and Luke has completed nine times and in five finals.”

Kirk was only too proud to dip with “The strongest brothers in history ever.

“Such nice guys.

“And it was great getting a local swim with them at Loch Insh Outdoor Centre.”

The Highland heroes, who hail from Invergordon, were warmly applauded after braving the bracing loch - and very appropriately too.

For the record, Tom (30) is indeed three time winner of the World's Strongest Man in 2021, 2022, and 2024. He also won the national title of Britain's Strongest Man on the same years.

Nicknamed "The Albatross" due to his sizeable arm span, Stoltman is known for his prowess with the Atlas Stones. In 2020, he broke the world record for the 5 Atlas Stones (light set) 100–180 kilograms (220–397 lb) in just 16.01 seconds.

He also holds the world record for the heaviest Atlas stone ever lifted over a 1.22 metres (4.0 ft) bar at 286 kilograms (631 lb).

Luke (39) won the Scotland’s Strongest Man competition five times and Europe’s Strongest Man competition two times in 2021 and 2024. He has also participated in the World's Strongest Man competition nine times and has reached the finals five times.
