Cyclist airlifted off Fyrish Hill in Easter Ross after Police Scotland call in Dundonnell Mountain Rescue Team and the HM Coastguard helicopter from Inverness Airport





A cyclist had to be airlifted off a hill in Easter Ross on Wednesday after suffering injury.

Police called on Dundonnell Mountain Rescue Team and the HM Coastguard helicopter from Inverness Airport after the accident close to Fyrish Hill near Evanton.

Working together with the helicopter crew, the mountain rescue team volunteers helped winch the casualty on board before he was taken to hospital for medical treatment.

A spokesman for Dundonnell Mountain Rescue Team said: “At about 2:30 pm, the team was tasked by Police Scotland to assist a cyclist who had been injured at a location close to Fyrish Hill in Easter Ross.

“With the assistance of HM Coastguard helicopter from Dalcross the casualty was safely evacuated to Raigmore Hospital.”

Fyrish Hill, with its unusual 1782-built monument commissioned by Sir Hector Munro, 8th lord of Novar, is a magnet for walkers and mountain bikers.
