THE seven-day Covid infection rate in the Highlands has continued its recent fall - as lockdown restrictions continue to have an impact.

The Highland Council area’s rate of new positive infections in the seven days to January 15 was 146.7 per 100,000 people.

This was down from the 163.3 being reported yesterday. However the rate is still well up on the 14.0 cases per 100,000 level that was being reported at the start of December.

There were 346 newly-confirmed infections across the council area in the seven days to January 15.

The region’s worst affected Covid hotspots continue to be the neighbouring Easter Ross towns of Invergordon and Alness, which recorded 102 infections between them in the same seven day period.

On a national level, Scotland’s infection rate fell slightly - dropping from 222.5 per 100,000 to 216.6 when data for the seven days to January 15 was released Monday.

Here are the latest seven-day Covid-19 infection rates for your Highland neighbourhoods.
