A836 roadwork planned between Lairg and Altnaharra in north Highlands put on hold into the new year, Highland Council says

ROADWORK planned for a route in the north Highlands have been put on hold until after the new year, it has emerged.

The previously planned works are on the A836 Between Lairg and Altnaharra.

They have now been suspended until January 5, 2022.

Highland Council said in an update issued this morning: "The road will not close as was previously intimated and will be open as normal until then."

The works were due to commence at the A836 at its junction with the A9 at the Dornoch Bridge roundabout. They extend north-west and north-east via Bonar Bridge and then north via Lairg and Tongue before heading easterly via Bettyhill, Strathy, Reay and Forss to its junction at Pennyland.
