Highland Council is advising drivers that a temporary road closure will be in operation at Rosehall from 9am tomorrow to 5pm on February 5.

The closure is to allow road maintenance to take place.
The closure is to allow road maintenance to take place.

The section affected will be the A839 Lairg - Rosehall, closed from its junction with the A837 Invershin - Lochinver Road, to its junction with Achany wind farm access road.

A Highland Council spokesman said the closure was necessary to enable contractors to work safely.

Work to be carried out includes deep structural patching and overlays to single track sections of the road with narrow or soft verges.

Access will be maintained for emergency vehicles, school transport vehicles, refuse collection vehicles and pedestrians.

To avoid the road closure an alternative route will be available via the A837 Invershin - Lochinver Road, and the A836 Dornoch Bridge - Tongue - John O' Groats Road.
