A CHARITY'S Strictly-style fundraising dancing competition has been won by a Golspie woman and her partner.
Tara MacBeath (25), and Andrew Ross (26), who is from Glasgow, have been crowned winners of Spina Bifida Hydrocephalus Scotland’s second Strictly Come Prancing event.
Along with seven other couples and after 10 weeks of training, the pair busted their moves at the Hilton Glasgow, last Sunday.
They performed in front of four top judges incuding professional dancer Ian Waite from BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing.
Tara and Andrew’s energetic quickstep particularly impressed judges and the couple went on to take the Glitterball trophy.
“I can’t believe that we won,” said Tara. “The competition was incredibly tough so to be presented the Glitterball trophy by none other than Ian Waite is such a surreal feeling.
“It has been a very fun experience. We went from being complete novices to something resembling semi-professional dancers in just a few weeks. I would encourage anyone to give it a go – you get to do something a bit different while raising awareness for a good cause.”
The competition raised an impressive £18,000, which will go towards supporting children, young people and their families across the country affected by spina bifida and hydrocephalus.
SBH Scotland’s fundraising director Deborah Roe said: “Our first Strictly Come Prancing event last year was brilliant, but I think we might have topped it this year."
