After a convincing win in Round 3 of the British Mountain Bike series at Hopton Wood in Shropshire earlier this month, Golspie cyclist Iain Paton is in Italy this week as part of the GB junior team competing in the UCI World Cup at Val di Sole.

Following the race, the team will travel on to Berne in Switzerland to compete in the European Cross Country Mountain Bike Championships.

The former Golspie High School pupil, now a student at Edinburgh University, undertakes intensive training on the British Cycling Olympic Development Programme and, when home in Golspie, hones his skills on the Highland Wildcat trails on Ben Bhraggie.
