Golspie Community Council secretary Henrietta Marriott has said the community is showing a 'remarkable amount of resilience' despite the coronavirus pandemic.
Mrs Marriott was referring to the number of local businesses which have either opened up or moved into new premises.
She said at the community council's virtual meeting on Monday: "I think it is fantastic we have so many shops or business that have opened or sucessfully moved location.
"It is wonderful and people have really pushed the boat out to do this. I think it should be recorded."
Mrs Marriott mentioned the takeover of two local hotels, the Ben Bhraggie and the Golspie Inn; and the opening of a new health food shop Golspie Larder.
She also noted the establishment of The Young Karers East Sutherland (TYKES) charity shop and the move of hair salon Identity to the long vacant Fountain Buildings on the Main Street.
"It is lovely to have a nice choice of food in the village as well," she said. "There is a lot going on and it's great."
