Golspie Bothy e-bikes free on loan from end of the month

By Caroline McMorran

The coordinator of a scheme to encourage cycling and walking in the Golspie area says its e-bikes will be available for loan free of charge from the end of the month.

Amanda Wagstaffe of the Golspie Bothy posted on social media: "We can start to loan our e-bikes out from April 26. We are still awaiting delivery of some but they should be here very soon."

Two of Golspie Bothy's bikes are step-through which makes mounting and dismounting easier.

The project also offers support to those who may not have used a bike in years or lack confidence in their ability to cycle.

Ms Wagstaffe continued: "We can give you one-to-one training, bike confidence sessions, learning to ride, road skills, route planning and buddy rides until you gain confidence.

"We have different bikes depending on whether you will be cycling on the trails or just keeping it to local roads and network in the village.

"There is no commitment to use the bike every day."

Cycling UK is working in partnership with Go Golspie to establish Golspie Bothy.
