Every young person in Dornoch is to be provided with an activity pack, thanks to Royal Dornoch Golf Club.

The club has donated £5000 to the area’s community council towards the purchase of the packs and also to support the town’s Foodbank.

The activity packs will help keep children occupied during the coronavirus lockdown.

Council chairwoman Yvonne Ross said: “We are very grateful for this donation and the packs will start being delivered in two weeks time.”

She added that the golf club had also loaned five tablet computers to the town’s two nursing homes, the Meadows and Oversteps.

“The tablet will be used by residents to keep in touch with relatives,” said Mrs Ross. “The two homes are very grateful for the loan.”

She also thanked individuals and businesses as well as visitors who have made donations to the community effort during the coronavirus crisis.

“These donations are making a huge difference to our community,” she said.
