Funding boost for six organisations in Sutherland
Six organisations in Sutherland are among 28 across the Highlands to have received a funding boost from the Community-Led Local Development Fund (CLLD).
Projects to have benefited vary from community transport schemes to a land-based education and a food delivery service.
Highland Council has made an overall £900,000 disbursement from the fund, of which £185,526 has come to Sutherland.
CLLD forms part of the Highland Council Community Regeneration Fund (CRF) - an umbrella term covering multiple external funding programmes administered by Highland Council.
The Highland Strategic Local Action Group decides which projects will receive CLLD funding.
This group is made up of representatives from the third sector, public agencies, and private organisations.
The chairman of Highland Council's Economy and Infrastructure Committee, Councillor Ken Gowans, said: “This is the fourth consecutive year that we have successfully secured a substantial CLLD allocation from the Scottish Government.
“This funding is essential to support grass roots economic regeneration, allowing communities to grow and develop new opportunities.”
“We welcome the continued investment by the Scottish Government in our rural communities and are proud to support community groups and witness the significant and lasting impact these projects have across the Highlands.
“I wish everyone working hard to turn their plans into reality all the very best.”
