Scottish Water are to carry out essential repairs.

Scottish Water will be carrying out essential repairs to the sewer in Fountain Road, Golspie, next week to ensure its network can continue to serve customers and protect the local environment.

To enable the repair to be completed safely by Scottish Water’s contractor, Kier, it is necessary for Fountain Road to be closed to traffic between its junction with the Main Street (A9) and the entrance to the Highland Council car park.

The closure is expected to be in place for one week, starting from Monday, 14 October.

A signposted diversion will be in place via Seaforth Road and the Back Road to maintain access to the car park, local businesses and Golspie Health Centre. Arrangements will also be in place to maintain safe pedestrian access throughout.

A Scottish Water spokesperson said: "We would like to thank customers and road users for their understanding while we carry out this essential work to repair a section of sewer in the centre of Golspie.

“We appreciate this is an important location for the community and local businesses. Our investigations have identified that work is necessary to repair the pipe beneath the road and tackle a potential cause of unplanned disruption in the future.

“Local businesses and the Health Centre will be open as usual while work takes place. We would ask residents to allow some extra time and use the signposted diversion to access the car park. The team on site will work to complete the repair and re-open the road as quickly as possible."
