Fresh perspective after 'terribly hard' Covid-19 year inspires woman out of comfort zone and into canoe challenge for Blythswood Care
THE work of a Highland charity and the galvanising experience of the coronavirus pandemic have combined to inspire a woman to take on the challenge of a lifetime.
Ami Dundas has decided to leap out of her comfort zone and into her canoe in a bid to cause a splash for Evanton-based Blythswood Care.
She will be taking to the water next month to raise funds for a charity that is close to her heart.
She will be canoeing, having never canoed before, from Fort William to Inverness over five days and wild camping along the way. Joining her on the organised challenge is her friend of 25 years, Thom.
Ms Dundas said: “After a terribly hard year of Covid, we decided to get out of our comfort zone and take on an active challenge in Scotland. In doing so, we will be reconnecting, laughing, praying and pushing each other on and experiencing Scotland from a different perspective.”.
Blythswood Care community fundraising manager, Elma MacKay, said: “We are so thrilled that Ami is taking on this challenge for Blythswood. We support people facing poverty, rejection and isolation and we rely on fundraising in order to be able to support our projects. The last year has been a difficult time for everyone and I think we have all re-thought our plans and priorities. So to see Ami challenging herself and getting out of her comfort zone to help others, is so inspiring”.
