FIREFIGHTERS were yesterday called out to attend an incident at an Easter Ross primary school which has been the scene of two blazes within the past year.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service confirmed units had attended Park Primary in the Easter Ross town's Albany Road yesterday evening.

The incident follows a major fire last month which came almost exactly a year after an earlier blaze in February 2020.

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokeswoman said three small fires had been extinguished after the call out at 6.14pm on Wednesday.

Units from Dingwall and Invergordon attended and it's understood police also attended the scene.

Police had appealed for witnesses following last month's fire which again caused significant damage.

The fire service said the incident had been dealt with by 7.01pm when the stop notice was issued.

Local councillor Maxine Morley-Smith posting to social media later said security guards are now in place and said it was too early to speculate as to what had behind the incident.

She urged anyone with information to contact the police.

Pupils at the school attended other local schools following the first blaze before lockdown prompted remote learning from home.

They have since been accommodated within spare space in other schools again pending a long-term solution being agreed.
