Two crew abandoned their fish farm boat after fire broke out aboard while they were off the Sutherland coast.

The blaze started around 11am on Monday in the engine room of the vessel which was half a mile from shore, having started out earlier from Badcall Bay near Scourie.

The men managed to close the hatches to contain the fire, which also triggered the vessel's own anti-blaze systems.

The pair were taken on board another nearby fish farm vessel, while a third boat took the stricken craft in tow to Badcall Bay.

It was met by Scottish Fire and Rescue Service crew from Kinlochbervie who dealt with what remained of the blaze.
