He is expected to be accompanied by Ariane Burgess, the Scottish Green candidate for the constituency of Inverness, Nairn, Badenoch and Strathspey in the December UK election.

Unit manager Lorraine Askew said she and her husband Graham knew Mr Finnie of old and the visit had come about as a result of their friendship.

The three were all formerly serving police officers and knew each other on the force.

Mr Finnie will be given a tour of the centre, which underwent a £200,000 extension project in 2019 during which time it operated out of Invershin Hall.

Mr Finnie has previously announced that will retire at the next Scottish Parliament election in 2021.
