Festival fun at Dornoch this weekend

Dornoch Festival Week is holding a number of outdoor events on Friday and Saturday.

A Kids Highland Games takes place from midday on Friday at Meadows Park.

On the programme is tossing the caber, throwing the welly, a tug of war and other games.

Author Catherine McCulloch will be at the Teddy Bears Picnic.

Also being held on Friday from 6.30pm is a Dornoch East v West derby in memory of local man Stuart Campbell. Anyone wishing to play should contact organisers in advance.

A Teddy Bears Picnic is scheduled to take place on Saturday at Meadows Park from 11am with prizes for the best dressed and most loved teddies.

A Festival Week spokeswoman said: "We will be lucky enough to be joined by a very special guest. Catherine McCulloch, author of Winston the Bear and the Dragon of the Black Firs, will be bringing Winston for a visit and doing a reading from the book.

"Look out for Micky and Minnie too!"
