Several sailings of the Ullapool-Stornoway ferry have been cancelled due to strong northerly winds and sea swells.

The overnight freight ferries in the early hours of Monday are cancelled, as too are the 7am Stornoway to Ullapool and 10.30am Ullapool to Stornoway passenger sailings.

The 6pm Sunday evening ferry from Ullapool to Stornoway also left 30 minutes earlier than scheduled to avoid the worst of the conditions.

Meanwhile, at the time of writing the 2pm sailing from Stornoway on Monday was due to depart early at 1.30pm and the 5.30pm departure from Ullapool was scheduled to run to the normal timetable.

Passengers are being urged to check their sailings before setting off on their journey.

The disruption comes as forecasters predict the end of the weekend’s mild weather and a return to a more wintry northern mix heading into Monday. Winds are also expected to pick up, and the new moon will cause higher spring tides.
