DINGWALL and Highland Marts on Friday sold 6249 store lambs.

Blackface lambs (5497) averaged £57.65 (up £6.89 on the year) sold to £89 gross for a pen of wedder lambs from Milton farm, Aberarder.

Other breeds (752) sold to £104 gross for a Texel lamb from Kilmaluag House, Duntulm.

The verdict from the mart: “Another big day in Dingwall with the blackface sheep gracing the ring, and boy was there a fantastic

show of blackies forward! Vendors were greeted with a great trade throughout with the buyers from all over in attendance.

"With the last consignment of Lewis lambs for the year a powerful show of lambs was on offer as well. I think it will be safe to say the Lewis producers will be very satisfied with their trading again this year.”
