The Falls of Shin Visitor Attraction has been commended in the Scottish Civic Trust My Place Awards, which recognise community-led built environment projects that have transformed their locality.

This year, 17 projects from across Scotland were nominated for the awards, with six being shortlisted.

Falls of Shin, which was redeveloped in 2017 by the Kyle of Sutherland Development Trust (KoSDT), was commended for excellence in community involvement.

KoSDT chairman Pete Campbell said: “So many amazing projects from across Scotland were nominated and shortlisted so we are really pleased for our local community that Falls of Shin was the commended project in the My Place Awards.”

KoSDT manager David Watson said: “It’s great to be recognised in the awards. The loss of the last visitor centre was a serious economic blow to the local community so to be able to regenerate the site and be recognised for the quality of the project is fantastic.”
