Environmental campaigners staged another protest in Inverness city centre today to highlight their cause.
Today's action was outside Barclays Bank, Union Street, and was organised by Extinction Rebellion (XR) Highland activists.
They are opposed to investment in fossil fuel financing and the month-long campaign, organised by XR Scotland, aims to highlight cooperation – between bankers, fossil fuel companies and governments – in continuing to extract fossil fuels around the globe.
The group claims there is a link between fossil fuels and the threat to the planet from climate change – resulting in increased melting of the ice caps, wild-fires, deforestation, loss of biodiversity, storms and floods.
So far this month Extinction Rebellion Highland has completed banner drops, an infograph and written multiple letters to Highland Council calling for policies which would match its 2019 declaration of a climate and ecological emergency.
