The essential work of emergency service workers will be acknowledged across the country on September 9 during Emergency Services Day.
Highland Council convener Cllr Bill Lobban said: “Highland Council recognises the vital work that the employees do and we are re-affirming our absolute support and appreciation for the work of all the emergency services.
“I would like to show my sincere appreciation for the people who work and volunteer in emergency services across the Highland Council area and for their continued commitment especially during these very difficult pandemic times.
“We appreciate not only Police, Fire, Ambulance and NHS services but also the Mountain Rescue, Coastguard and RNLI staff and volunteers who have seen a massive increase in demand due to the staycation demands on our region.
"The contribution to the wellbeing of our communities, by the emergency services, cannot be underestimated. I thank you all.”
Approximately two million people work and volunteer across the NHS and emergency services, many of whom are volunteers, without whom the emergency services could not operate effectively.
