St Finnbarr’s Charity Shop, Dornoch, has donated £1000 to the Sutherland branch of armed forces charity SSAFA (the Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Families Association).

The welcome donation was handed over at a ceremony outside the shop by Rev Simon Scott, priest in charge at S Finnbarr’s Episcopal Church, to William Sutherland, branch chairman.

Mr Sutherland said: “We shall ensure that the donation will be used in direct support of needy SSAFA clients.”

The branch is dedicated to helping needy members of the armed forces community, both serving and retired, in Sutherland.

SSAFA caseworkers visit clients in their homes, offering support in various ways, including financial.

Father Scott said SSAFA carried out excellent work supporting the mental and physical wellbeing of veterans and those currently serving.

“Our sincerest thanks go to our donors, volunteers and customers for making it possible for us to support SSAFA Sutherland and other local charities in this way,” he said.

Anyone interested in volunteering for SSAFA Sutherland or those in need of help, ring 07585 030742 or email: Alisdair.Miller@Sutherland.ssafa.org.uk

St Finnbarr’s welcomes donations, but can’t accept electrical goods or large items such as furniture.
