Dornoch Caravan and Camping Park gains permission for yurts
A seaside caravan park in East Sutherland has been given the go-ahead to erect yurts on its site.
Dornoch Caravan and Camping Park, which sits on Common Good land, applied to Highland Council for permission to erect six “camping yurts” on an 850 square metre area of ground.
The local authority has now granted permission for the yurts, which would be pitched on a sesonal basis from March to October.
In its decision notice, dated July 18, the council said: “The yurt structures hereby approved shall be for seasonal use only. For the avoidance of doubt, the yurts may be sited between the months of April to September and cleared from the site outwith this period.”
Dornoch Caravan and Camping Park said on its online business page that the spacious “18ft handcrafted yurts” would accommodate up to four people with a double bed and two fold-out single futons”.
“It is a perfect escape for all the family into your own magic world,” it is stated.
