Two new members have been co-opted onto Dornoch Area Community Council (DACC).

The council said it was delighted to welcome Lucy Dixon and Genevieve Duhigg after members unanimously approved their co-option.

The pair will serve until the next election which is scheduled for December 2023.

DACC said that both women live in Dornoch and are well known and respected in the local community.

Following her appointment Lucy, who works as a pharmacist in Dornoch and the local area, said: “I am passionate about our beautiful area and hope to contribute towards its continued improvement and progression.”

Genevieve runs Dornoch Stores with her husband John, eldest son Josh and the rest of the team. They finally moved to Dornoch six years ago after visiting family here since the late 1980s.

Paddy Murray, chair of DACC, said: “This is a challenging but exciting time for the community council and I look forward to Lucy and Genevieve joining the rest of the councillors in helping us deliver the best possible outcomes for everyone in Dornoch.”
