DINGWALL and Highland Marts Ltd sold 220 store cattle, 149 adult head of breeding cattle and 78 OTM cattle yesterday.
Bullocks (102) averaged 250.8p and sold to 323.1p per kg for a 195kg Limousin cross from 6 Bracara, Morar and £1460 gross for a 660kg Limousin cross from Bog of Auchterflow, Munlochy.
Heifers (114) averaged 241.4p and sold to 285.2p per kg for a 270kg Hereford cross from Ardtornish Farms, Morven and £1380 gross for a 625kg Aberdeen Angus from Ballindalloch Home Farms, Ballindalloch.
Young bulls (4) sold to 271.2p per kg for a 295kg Limousin cross and £920 gross for a 395kg Limousin cross both from 4 Kingsburgh, Snizort.
The verdict: “A very mixed show of store cattle met a great trade despite the cold and wet conditions.”
Heifers with male calf (18) sold to £2600 for a Beef Shorthorn cross heifer from Smallburn Farms, Duffus.
Heifers with female calf (19) sold to £2800 for a Simmental cross heifer from Smallburn Farms.
Cows with male Calf (49) sold to £3350 for a Beef Shorthorn cross from Smallburn Farms.

In calf cows (6) sold to £800 for a Highland cow from Balnespick, Tomatin.

The verdict: “Breeders were a very steady trade with both a full ringside of buyers and lots of online activity.”
