Flames could be seen leaping high from the roof of Park Primary School.

DETAILS of temporary school accommodation will be issued to parents “in due course” following this morning’s devastating fire at Park Primary in Invergordon, Highland Council has said.

Massive flames were seen leaping from the building during the blaze, which started at around 10am and looks to have caused devastation at the site.

Seven different fire appliances attended the scene at the height of the blaze, as firefighters attempted to quell the flames.

All of the school’s pupils and staff were safely evacuated. The children were being looked after at Invergordon Academy at the time of writing, and parents were being urged to pick them up.

Highland Council has now confirmed that it will publicise arrangements for the temporary replacement of Park Primary School’s fire-ravaged classrooms once it has surveyed the extent of the damage to the building.

“The extent of damage to the primary school building and the source of the fire is not yet confirmed,” said a council spokesman. “This appears to be an isolated incident and will be subject to a full fire investigation by Scottish Fire and Rescue Service.

”As the extent of the damage is not yet known further details about potential temporary school accommodation will be issued to parents in due course.”
