Talent on show in virtual exhibition featuring the design work of final-year visual communication students at Inverness College UHI has launched

A virtual exhibition featuring the design work of final-year visual communication students at Inverness College UHI has launched.

Named RGB – after the red, green and blue colour model traditionally used by designers – it has been organised by the students who have all played a role in its creation and production.

With the theme of traditional meets digital, RGB will take place online this year due to the pandemic.

The students were encouraged to pick their own design brief for their class projects which resulted in an exhibition which features a range of work, from books and clothing design to brand and advertising campaigns.

Tegan Brown, a BA (Hons) visual communication student, said: “This exhibition aims to showcase our individual skills and show our versatility as designers by proving that works can cross over various mediums and that we cannot be held back by anything, including a global pandemic.

“As this exhibition marks the end of our degree, we really wanted to make it stand out by creating something unique of our own design.

“We are sad that our experience with Inverness College UHI is coming to an end, however, the skills and encouragement we have received from our lecturers has been outstanding and we’re looking forward to our futures as designers and creatives.”

Dr Alessandra Campoli, a lecturer on the BA (Hons) visual communication programme and active researcher on contemporary art and visual cultures, said: “The students have overcome the challenges of Covid amazingly well and by working together as a team, have produced a very high standard online exhibition.”
