Lairg and District Learning Centre has welcomed a new manager.

Aileen Ogilvie has taken over from Rhionna Mackay who has left the post to concentrate on a new business venture - the Sutherland Adventure Company.

Ms Ogilvie has headed north after spending 18 years in Perth and Kinross. She has worked in different fields in culture, heritage, community learning and development and most recently in Gaelic development.

The learning centre celebrated its 20th anniversary last year and is an independent organisation with charitable status which offers learning opportunities to people of all ages.

Centre staff held a farewell ceremony for Ms Mackay at the end of May.

A post on the group's social media page said that she had had a "lasting impact".

It read: "From steering us through the pandemic, making the push for us to go online and creating countless learning opportunities, she has allowed the centre to grow in so many ways."
