Scottish ministers could be giving their decision on whether to grant permission for the proposed 18-hole championship golf course on Coul Links near Dornoch within the next few days.

A month-long inquiry into the highly controversial proposals was held in Dornoch earlier this year. The Scottish Government's Planning and Environmental Appeals Division recommendation was passed to Scottish Ministers yesterday.

The Highland Council granted approval for the proposal but in light of the high level of objections and the heritage value of the site, the case was considered of national importance and the Scottish Government called in the proposals last year and initiated a public inquiry.
